Dr Nelda Frater, BSc, PhD, BA, MA(Oxon), MBBS(Cantab) 

Dr Nelda Frater is President of the Independent Medical Faculty (IMF). She is the Medical Director and founder of The Frater Clinic at 94 Harley Street, London W1G 7HX.  www.thefraterclinic.com 

She is founder and chair of The Water Tap Foundation charity and patron of Reach Society and the Supporting Relationships & Families (SRF) charity.


Dr Dina Dhorajiwala MA, MBBS, MBA, Cert Med Ed, MRCGP 

Dr Dina Dhorajiwala is a Portfolio GP and Appraiser. 

She is the  Appraisal Lead for TDRAAS. In addition, she is Director of Regulation Affairs and Finance Associate for IMF.


Professor Peter Holgate FCA MSc BMus (Hons)

Peter Holgate is a chartered accountant with degrees in business and in music. He was previously a senior partner in PwC, and a visiting professor at the London School of Economics.

He  is currently a director of The Frater Clinic and Chief Financial Officer of the IMF, and a Council member of the Royal College of Music. 

Professor Vijay Gautam MBBS, Dip IMC, FRCSI, FRCEM, FRCP - Director of Education and membership associate for IMF.

Professor Vijay Gautam is an Academic Clinician. He has international training and service development experience in Emergency Care. He gives short courses and clinical skills updates including ALS and ATLS training. He has contributed to scientific journals and widely published in several countries.

He is an A&E Consultant and previously was Associate Dean of Post-Graduate Medical Education at the University of London. In addition, he has worked in elite sports including Premier League Football, Rugby and International Cricket in London.

He has had Post Graduate Training from Cambridge, Leeds, Manchester, Portsmouth and the USA. He has been invited to speak and teach in several countries including China, Singapore and the USA. 

Professor Gautam currently works part-time in Essex and his interests include Acute Medical Care, Soft Tissue Injuries, Life-Coaching, and Medico-Legal Assessment.


Dr Abdul Lakhdar MSc FRCPG FRCP - Director of Membership and education associate for IMF.

Senior Consultant Physician in Diabetes and Endocrinology, Barts Health NHS Trust and Whipps Cross University Hospital, London

Dr Lakhdar is currently President of the Diabetes & Endocrine section of The Royal Society of Medicine and also Regional Advisor to DVLA on diabetes and driving. He has wide clinical and research experience and specialises in diabetes and Endocrinology. He uses novel therapies in diabetes in particular GLP-1 RAs , diabetic kidney disease and cardiovascular risk reduction, cancer and abnormal glucose tolerance and obesity. He is author of over 50 publications in peer reviewed journals on diabetes and endocrine related topics and speaks at conferences world-wide.

He is editor of the book ‘Diabetes in the Arab World’ and referees a number of journals including British Medical Journal, Diabetic Medicine, Diabetologia, and Practical Diabetes. He is the past International Advisor to the Royal College of Physicians of London. He has a busy private practice.


Robert Frater is a website and social media adviser and dental student adviser for IMF. 

He is currently a final year dentistry student at the University of Sheffield. He thoroughly enjoys delivering care to his patients and has a particular interest in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. Rob is fascinated by how one's dental health can have clinical manifestations throughout the body. 

He is a competent musician, playing both classical guitar and piano. He enjoys travelling, following a range of sports and keeping fit at the gym.

Thomas Burke is IMF's Medical Student Adviser.

He is currently a third-year medical student with a keen interest in neuroscience. He is captivated by how the brain's intricate functions influence the entire body, and has thoughts of pursuing a career that explores the complexities of the nervous system. Alongside his studies, Tom is passionate about sports and athletics. In his downtime, he enjoys photography, capturing landscapes and shooting videos.
