UK doctors and dentists who are on the GMC’s or GDC’s register need to have annual appraisals culminating in, every five years, a recommendation to the GMC/GDC about their revalidation. Revalidation is necessary for a doctor and dentist to remain on the register and continue to have a licence to practice.
Whole practice appraisal is required. That is, your appraisal must reflect all of the work that you do in the various locations in which you carry out your work.
The Independent Medical Faculty is now able to its members (doctors, dentists and others) Appraisal services and recommendations for Revalidation. The Responsible Officer (RO) is Dr Nelda Frater and she has a team of appraisers working with her.
NB. Allied Healthcare workers are regulated by their own, respective bodies.
